INTERVIEW WITH SUJEAN RIM

I've been having the pleasure to be exchanging e-mails back and forth with our Amazing Sponsor of the Week Sujean Rim this last few weeks. Her Childrens book, "Birdie's Big-Girl Shoes" is one of her few creations among so many others that have been displayed in well know designer stores. She also shared something that I was so happy to hear and my little Sassy girl was too, "Birdie #2" is coming out soon!!! So we can only expect more happy little girls to dream more dreams as they read her beautiful illustrated book!!! She is so talented and I only could wish to be as talented as her one day!!! "GET TO KNOW SUJEAN RIM"

AA DREAMS: Who was your biggest inspiration growing up?


SUJEAN RIM: My art teachers in school and Charles Schulz (Peanuts).


AA DREAMS: What inspired you to go to Fashion School?

SUJEAN RIM: I knew I wanted to be an artist and be in the creative world, my biggest challenge was to figure out which field to choose.I went through so many phases-from painter, sculptor,art teacher...I loved fashion since I was introduced to Barbie and just followed that path.


AA DREAMS: Why did you decide to become an Illustrater?

SUJEAN RIM: I always loved and love illustrating. In fashion school, I realized I was happiest my fashion illustration classes and just kept doing that "on the side". I wasn't sure it would be a career then-I was just illustrating out of pure enjoyment for myself.


AA DREAMS:Do you remember the very first piece of art that you worked up, what was it?

SUJEAN RIM: I don't...I just always remember my hands were always covered in paint and I couldn't get enough new crayons.


AA DREAMS: Do you have any specific goals as an illustrater, other than those that you accomplished in life already?

SUJEAN RIM: I don't really have specific goals-I just feel I always want to grow as an artist...learn new ways of seeing and expressing myself.


AA DREAMS: What are you working on now?

SUJEAN RIM: Designing shoes, illustrating some graphics for a fashion company and a new children's book idea.


AA DREAMS: When is Birdie #2 coming out?

SUJEAN RIM: This fall:)


AA DREAMS: What good advice do you have for any dreamers who want to be illustraters?

SUJEAN RIM:Don't get lost in any criticism--follow your heart and illustrate for you first.

AA DREAMS:What was your first job you ever had?

SUJEAN RIM: Stock girl at Barneys NY.

AA DREAMS: What is your favorite part of working at Dailycandy.com?

AA DREAMS: Is there a beauty product that you can't live without?

AA DREAMS:Is there a song that you just can't get enough of, at this time?

SUJEAN RIM: Florence & the Machine's Dog Days are over

AA DREAMS: What are your weekends like in New York?

SUJEAN RIM: Playtime with my 18m son and husband

AA DREAMS: What is your biggest dream in Life?

SUJEAN RIM: To have a home full of family, love, health and happiness....on a beach would be nice...and with chocolates.
